Please God If You Can't Make Me Thin Make My Friends Fat

This photo has nothing to do with my entry though it made me giggle and grin. I think the caption is hilarious and the picture endearing. As I further dwell on the words, I smile to myself because I am infrequently guilty of this thought. On a more serious tone, the society often thinks this way, competition-wise. Most do not know how to play the game fairly and wishes the other bad luck. It is all over us! If being fat will make you look as adorable and as cuddly as the kitten, then it's not so bad to be fat after all, right?

For many weeks now, I have been contending with my health issues. It is pure common sense, I know, yet, I fail to follow these simple rules: listen to your body. Eat in moderation and slumber at least 7 hours per day.

My sleep-and-wake cycle has been distorted and is in a sporadic occurrence lately. My body clock goes haywire especially on my days off when I try to keep up with the normalcy of my household's lifestyle. I do this to reconnect with them, to keep me sane from the almost robotic manner of communicating when at work and manage to still have an adult conversation while consciously unearthing my vocabulary.

Eating moderately and veering away from junk food is almost always what I hear my mom telling me especially when I am binging. I can fore go a meal in replace of a big pack of Lay's Kettle Cooked (my addiction these days) and dark chocolate. However, I deprive myself of the real stuff and feel literally weak due to my decreasing sugar level towards my end of shift. Yes, moderation is the answer and permanently changing the lifestyle than dieting is the key to a healthy body.

Sleep and proper diet are essential to every person. However, due to commercialism, peer pressure, and a contorted perception to lose weight for the sake of a slimmer-body-to-die-for, my connotation to the word diet is altered.

Reverting my ideologies to the fundamentals of achieving wellness, I succumb to the long-term benefits of doing so. On hindsight, it's never really a sin to wish my friends to be fat if, no matter how hard I pray, God can't still make me thin!

Postscript:
I'm trying to lose 10 pounds at least. It's quiet difficult due to the temptations I see around me, so help me God :)

  1. Yeah, me either... I have to be responsible for getting this way.

I have issues with sleep, too. My circadian rhythm wants to sleep in the daytime and stay up all night.

  2. That quote is for me. I gained too much weight lately! It's high time I stop eating sweets. I am so addicted to them. Hayz...

  3. You hit on the key point for me. Not feeling 100% after sucumbing to jelly donuts (my downfall) offered by a co-worker. I just say no thank you with a smile more often than not. The kitten is darling.

  4. I laughed too when I saw this a long time ago. Still makes me laugh. The irony is, we do know how to get thin (or in good shape), but it's hard to do it. We need discipline, discipline and more discipline. :)

  5. I think I would like my friends to be thin instead of fatter then me...It would give me more motivation to be thin myself...:) My sleep cycle is messed up also...but I am MUCH older than you. :)

  6. i love this statement.. i feel the same way about my friends who can eat whatever they want and not gain weight

  7. I love Lays and dark chocolate too! Yes, weight is a burden. I want a quick fix, and it takes years to lose and maintain a good weight. You are not alone!

  8. I'm sure you're guided to eat healthily, but it's not easy! (I'm not sure what 'Lay's Kettle Cooked' is but it sounds as if it involves a lot of calories).

  9. I'm trying to lose a few pounds as well, but I still find myself reaching for the chocolate every day, often several times a day. For me, I have to have the mindset to get serious about losing weight--and I guess I'm just not there yet.

  10. Well I am glad to know you are game for water rides. They are fun, I will attest to that. Just wanted to do an e.a.s.y. post that was short and sweet and to the point. hahahaha.

  12. It's a struggle... I have dealt with weight problems for years and years.. It's not easy. The saddest part is that we ALL have crutches and things that we do in our lives which are not good for us. Some people smoke. Some drink. Some do drugs. My problem, overeating and being heavy, is the most OBVIOUS to the world.. People can look at me and see my problem, whereas other people can 'hide' their problems.

Another thing that makes it harder is that we HAVE to eat in order to LIVE. People don't have to smoke, drink or do drugs.... BUT--we all have to eat. SO---finding the right foods for us and eating in moderation is what we have to do. Like I said, it is NOT easy...

For me, the key is not to beat myself up and feel guilty. I just live each day doing the best I can ---and being HAPPY with myself... When I'm happy, eating right is much easier....

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  13. Dark chocolate is good, but as they say, the key is still moderation. Can't have too much of a good thing. If you can't stay away from sinful foods, try to balance it out with good foods. You'll see changes there sis. The taste buds and cravings will adapt.

Having a goal is a good start...at least you have something to aim for...losing those 10 lbs. You can do it! We're rooting for you :-)

  14. Yes, something I can relate to. My problem is I never developed a good workout habit in my younger years as I never needed to.....Bad bad habit, now in my aging menopause years I wished I had the good habit of working out as now I NEED it!

good post and thanks for visiting my blog!!!

  15. LOL! I think (only to myself) I have thought this! And I understand those temptations! The sleep patterns! I think I'm good if I get at least 5 to 6 hours each night. I'm at a stage in my life that nothing seems to work for me like it did when I was younger. I'm discovering a whole new way of looking at things and what I use to be able to eat am not able to eat it now. STRANGE...Yep, just trying to work it all out and EXERCISING. Yes, exercise is important! So now I think, let's all not be fat; let's find a way to be healthier. I may never get to my ideal size that I want, but I'm going to keep trying. It is hard...

I love the sweet look on the kittie's face...it kind of melts your worries.

Smile! Someone in Texas appreciates you and understands.

  16. Oh the battle of eating right and getting enough sleep and balance and all of that! I sometimes crave certain things and if they're in the house, I have a hard time not eating the whole bag or package...

But on the other side...I think that society puts waaaaaay too much pressure (on women especially) to be THIN and ULTRA THIN...that's not balanced either...

One day at a time, my friend.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you get to spend lots of time with your little niece and nephew. :)

  24. Losing weight is every woman's goal! Glad that I'm slim up to now. Maybe because of my body metabolism but I am health conscious not just for the figure but for my wellness. :)

  26. Sometimes I wish the same for my friends too XD but I know in my heart I'm just being lazy. They work hard to look the way they look. My friends are not gifted with good genes (they bloat just the same :p) but they work out and eat less. Not something I do, hence the bloat-ness. *lol*

I hate my body clock too :/ It's so easy to tip it towards the unhealthy but so hard to correct~ *sigh* I hope we both find a better solution to this. :(

  27. It's funny that we have the same problem. I'm not that fat. I have a normal size body but I'm conscious because I gain weight this days. It's because o my addictions, CHOCOLATES, that keep on tempting me. Urggh. What I do is exercise, if I can't exercise, I walk anywhere for just 30 min. I also minimize the amount of meal that I'm eating. Also, I keep in mind that I need to lose few pounds. I also keep on looking on my old pictures last year, (I love my body structure because I have a big hips but curve waist). :D

Following you now. Hope you have time to visit my blog. http://theworldofupsdowns.blogspot.com/

  28. I've never had 7 hours of sleep at night since I had kids. My day usually ends at 1-2am and begins at 6am. I do take a short nap in the afternoon though. I'm not that health conscious also but was thankfully blessed with a petite frame.

  29. I think that "wish" is funny and it a chord in me. The truth is clear. I need to lose weight and I am not doing something about it. huhuhu

  30. Good luck to you! You can do it. It's just a matter of self conviction. In my case, I admit to be a voracious eater but I hardly gain weight. I'm skinny forever.

  44. I thought I have done visiting your site last week. But upon checking my last comment was still last August 9.

Weight management has been my problem for years now :( I am not fond of junk foods but I am eating rice too much - the usual Filipino weakness. To shed some excess pounds has been my plan and desire for quite sometime now. But I have no idea when will I finally achieve it.
