Today I am amused... at the idea of winning the lottery! The current jackpot prize has accumulated to more than 280 million and if I win, I will get myself a spacious lot so we could build three different cottages wherein my two brothers with their families can live in the midst of a grand garden . Blessings are best shared with the people you love. More so, I will always be in the company of my nephews and niece whom I adore very much.
My nephew and niece, Seth (4) and Naomi (3) are inseparable when together. At their very young age, they consider themselves the best of friends! Seth is fascinated with dinosaurs while Naomi with guitar and calls herself a rock star - not pretty rock star but rock star. They spend time eating popcorn or watching cartoons and playing out in the driveway. I get entertained when I see them together. If only adults could treat each other this way, then there will be peace in this world, right?
My Mom recently found out that her blood pressure was high. After having it checked in the laboratory, the results showed that her cholesterol has to be controlled and she was on the prehypertension stage. I find this a blessing-in-disguise. She now chooses the food she eats, cooks mostly healthy and still deliciously tasting dishes for the family plus our grocery list has significantly shortened. This means our lives will be longer and we save some cash too by only purchasing the nutritious items. Oh, and I hope I won't hear my household moo-ing soon! :)
These are the things that have made me smile today. Do you have similar stories to share?
I hope you win!
ReplyDeleteFarida, such a lovely post. I like your thoughts for the day and see that you love your family very much. I'm glad your mother's health issue was found before it was too bad. I think your niece and nephew are very cute. Have a wonderful weekend.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little cottage with all the flowers and ivy. I would fun to see how it looks on the inside.
ReplyDeleteYour niece and nephew are adorable. You are blessed to have them close to you. My grandson and grand daughter who are 6 and 3 live almost 400 miles away. I am thankful for being able to see them on the internet.
Isn't it iteresting that the foods that are good for us are so colorful and inviting. I hope your mother does well with her diet and and all her medical problems will go away.
Have a great day!
I would definitely celebrate you winning the lottery..I would not mind winning it myself.:) When my husband starting having heart trouble we had to make drastic changes in our eating. Not easy at first...but doable. It is good your mom is such a good cook and can make healthy eating tasty for everyone. Your niece and nephew are very cute...and at a fun age.
ReplyDeleteLovely post. Hope you win!
ReplyDeleteWell...I would be too....
ReplyDeleteI hope you may win...I really do.

ReplyDeleteEating well is something we are trying to do more of here, too. Healthy food is prettier and tastier...just takes so long to cook!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I'd say you could build some pretty grand cottages with that much money :-)Good luck on winning.
ReplyDeleteTo me it looks like your family is most important...LOVE the dinosaur loving and rock star duo!! As for the lottery....I don't play, so that makes the odds in your favor by 1 at least!!!
ReplyDeletepleased to meet you Farida, you sound like an inspiration! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you came upon my blog, but I'm so very glad you did. The picture of my daughter in the post you saw was in a car accident when she was 18 (she now 41) that put her in the hospital for a year, and almost had her right leg amputated, but God is good, and even though she had disabilities, she like you gives thanks and loves her neices and nephews like her own, since she doesn't have children.
ReplyDeleteI will most certainly follow you, and will look forward to a great blog friendship....by the way I do watercolors, and have note cards of sunflowers...
Sending thoughts of love and hugs to you.
Btw, Farida...you picture looks very much like one of my granddaughters...you are both beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Most of our home-cooked meals lack taste because of our grandma's and dad's health conditions. I agree, blessings are best shared with the people we love the most.
ReplyDeletebtw, sis, I have something for you. Please check this out, because I really think you deserve it!
Awww the lottery was already won..were you one of the winner? hehehe...How I wish! You have such adorable pamangkins. So cute! Oh I hope your mom is doing okay naman. Mine is already essential hypertension, so says the doctor. Oh well, that's life. But I am not resigned to that...fighting for health. :-)
ReplyDeletethat's a sweet relationship your pamangkins have... :-) i remember my childhood with my sibs and cousins too... hoping my little boy will experience that too... :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree that blessings should be shared to others. It is one act of kindness that may change the world.
ReplyDeleteI will share it with those in needs> I am praying also to win, hehe. Even it's not that huge. Just enough for our family to live a comfortable life and to help other people. I want to send poor children to school.
ReplyDeleteYour mom and mine are similar, though mine still hasn't shifted to cooking healthier food. Wish I could influence her into living healthily. The lottery has been won na pala. so better luck next time to US! hehehe!
ReplyDeleteWhat delicious AND HEALTHY looking dishes! Greetings from England ... where the sun is actually shining today!
ReplyDeleteWow! With that big amount of money to be won in the lottery, that's like telling me too to start betting. :)
ReplyDeleteGood to hear about your mom getting a more healthy lifestyle now.
280m? Wow! My mom would always say that if she wins the lottery, she'll send us plane ticket so that we could come home and visit them. Yeah I totally agree on sharing our blessings with our love ones. Visiting from CommEx Sept18.
ReplyDeletei also want to win in the lottery, problem is i haven't place a bet ha, ha!
ReplyDeletewe are also careful in our food now because the last couple of years my brother was diagnosed with hypertension; we practice alternative/natural medication, my mom made tanglad tea for him/for us and my brother is in good health now...my dad naman is having symptoms of diabetes (slight count of sugar and cholesterol0 pa lang naman), my mom made him drink luyang dilaw tea
Good luck on winning the lottery. I too am aiming to eat more healthly and cook better food for the kids.
ReplyDeleteGood energy to you and your family! Hope you win sounds like a great place to live. Family that you care about how wonderful! Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteYes I would love to follow you and I have! You are very sweet!
DeleteI don't actually believe that eating healthy food will prolong our my life. I believe that when my mother conceive me, the time of my death was already set. But I believe that eating healthy food will give me health body while I live. hence I will be able to enjoy life more :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a little late reading this post, so I'm assuming you didn't win. I felt a sense of peacefulness when I read how you would spend your money. Your family is very lucky to have you. And your niece and nephew are precious! We've been eating healthier too these days and feel so much better because of it!
ReplyDeleteHeh heh, it WOULD be cool to win! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou remind me of my nephews too whom i love very much. I used to dream winning the lottery too so i can give all my family a comfortable life.
ReplyDeleteHello Farida, thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a sweet comment. I would be happy to follow you and have you follow back! I look forward to getting to know you better. I can see by your photo that you are a beautiful lady and from what I've read, you sound like a loving aunt. Your niece and nephew are adorable! ReplyDeleteIt's great that a your mom and your household are choosing healthier foods. I'd like to say we are too, but we're not very strict about it just yet.
ReplyDeleteRecent blessings? Yesterday was last day of my physical therapy sessions, tomorrow I will know if I need more and i'm pretty sure i do. The good thing is my condition is considerably a lot better than when all this problem with my back started. :)
winning the lottery needs a very very huge luck.. hehehe.. hope you'll have that luck.. at ako din.. hehe
ReplyDeleteI think I am not lucky in lottery. I just won 3 numbers at most.
ReplyDelete-daddy allan (visit from BCB)
Wow lotto... it's millions. Like daddy Allan, I am not lucky when it comes to lottery but I tried to make taya now here hehe... wishing too to win.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could win the lotto (May the odds ever be against you ;) ). Marie here of Baguio City (http://www.mommyunwired.com/) getting acquainted with the BC Bloggers community.
ReplyDeleteOh, I see you love sunflowers! They are wild here and would grow anywhere. And the really big ones are so easy to grow too!
Watching out one's diet is a necessity. It's too expensive to get sick. I hope your moms gets her blood pressure to be normal again.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I also daydream about winning the lotto and the things I would do with the money. Haha! My plan includes traveling, home renovations and setting up a business. I have decided not to change my lifestyle drastically.
ReplyDeleteWinning a lotto would mean a lot to me. I will buy a house, a car, donate some to charity, make my own business, what else? I have many plans. :D
ReplyDeleteMy kids are also aged 3 and 4, but unlike your nephew and niece, they can be quite rowdy at times. Most of the time, they are best friends too. However, once in a while, they quarrel also.
ReplyDeleteyou're alone sis as I sometimes daydream also of winning, in my dream if I win the lottery I will buy a house and lot for my sister and brothers.. but then again, I don't bet so I don't know this daydream will come into reality...:)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, you're not alone! We're also hopeful and keeping fingers crossed if it come to winning the lottery. There are people who are just luckier than some. I just hope the pot goes to the one who really needs it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI also love the genuine bond kids have for each other. There are no pretensions with them. It also seems they're always happy. Yep, unlike adults. Hahaha!
I hope your mom will do fine. ;) Live healthier each day!
i would loveto win as well.. pero much of it will be spent with the less fortunate.. ititira ko lngung tama sa akin.. :)
ReplyDeleteI think all of us wanted to win any lotto jackpot prize for our family. And about eating healthy for lower cholesterol, I think eating healthy is not good enough, exercise is a must as well.
ReplyDeleteNice thoughts for the day Sis! Hope you'll win na someday. :) But kidding aside, I think it's everybody's wish. to live a comfortable and happy life.
ReplyDeleteI have seen classmates today that I don't usually see and speak with. They made not only smiling but happy indeed!
