The Beauty of Batanes

I have always been mesmerized and captivated by Batanes where unspoiled  and undisturbed beauty of nature is preserved. It is the home to the  famous Ivatans whose sense of community until this day exists and are  further known for their sturdy and self-sufficient characteristics.

Found in the northernmost tip of the Philippines, it comprises of three  major islands, hills and mountains. The smallest province in terms of  land area has a 0% crime rate and even has a convenience store (sari-sari store) called Honesty Coffee Shop!

Houses are made of stones because of the constant wind and air that sweeps the island but the notion that this province is always battered by typhoon is wrong, according to Department of Tourism.

Batanes is in my bucket list I wish to visit in the future. I am enchanted by the photos. What more if I personally see it, right?

Recently, I have been reading a series of books that take place during World War II. The one I am reading right now is about the Philippines.

  11. Like you I also wanted to visit Batanes. Some of our relatives are staying there (father's side). I heard of that Honesty Coffee Shop - walang tindera pero nakakamangha kasi wala rin nawawalang gamit, lahat ng customer ay nagbabayad ng tama.

  17. The zero percent crime rate is interesting. I love how the people like them live as a community. We all can learn from the Ivatans.

  23. I've seen an episode on rated K featuring Batanes and it's really very beautiful.. The houses are all made of concretes and stones dahil siguro prone sila sa bagyo.
