Sweet Treats Over The Weekend

Since J.Co Donuts opened a branch in Araneta Center, Cubao, barely a month ago, the shop is always filled with people! I would see a long queue every time we pass by the area. So I requested my mom to get us a boxful of these donuts to find out why many would go gaga over these sweet creations that originated from Indonesia.

(1st row) Tiramisu, berry spears, alcapone, (2nd row) blueberry more, don mochino and I forgot the name

Verdict:
Sorry J.Co fanatics. I sincerely do not find anything extraordinary with these donuts. They're soft like what a normal donut should taste like and the fuller ones are filled with the same cream inside with a variety of toppings you can choose from. It's not as sweet as the donut we grew up liking (but  has come up with newer products that are more expensive and truly delectable).

Would you see me lining up for their baked goodies like most would do? No. But I am interested to try their yogurt and beverages in the future.

Cronuts from Go Nuts Donuts are the two photos above (chocolate with almonds and blueberry). Cronuts is a combination of croissant and donut! I enjoyed eating this delightful pastry that has a bavarian cream filling; a perfect surprise that mixes well with the crispiness and layers of the croissant. Sold at P75.00 each, I would certainly go back to try their other four flavors. And this is best eaten when hot with a cup of my favorite coffee. More so, Go Nuts Donuts is Philippine made. I am proud of this brand!

What food experience did you have over the weekend?

  1. Ah, Farida, they all look wonderful. I wish my old stomach could still tolerate sugar.

  2. Hello Farida, how are you?
Oh yesterday, we have eaten tompouce. It is a Dutch pastry....and yes, with a cup of coffee! :-D

  3. Hi Farida! Looks like you had a donut-filled weekend :) My food experience over the weekend was about learning how to cook Chicken Curry the way the Nepalese do. It was fun and delicious! :)

  4. We had a Church Pot Luck last night and there was a lot of different foods. I made a Corn Pudding Casserole that was very tasty. My favorite donut is the custard filled with chocolate on top. Yummy!

  8. I love JCo ate. Their dough is much softer than Dunkin Donuts, though pag nilagay na sa fridge, matigas na noh? hehehe! Masarap lang pag fresh talaga.

    1. naku we never experienced putting it in the fridge kasi we don't buy as many. but once, delayed ung pagconsume namin when we were given a boxful of jco. it tasted not as fresh compared to when you eat it right away after buying it! tama ka sis!

  11. Like you I can't find anything special with J.Co donuts though I tried lining up once to taste it. I still prefer the original glaze of Krispy Kreme...As for the cronuts I would really like to try that.. sana may go nuts donuts na rin dito sa CDO..

  12. When JCO first opened at SM Pampanga, I bought 2 dozens.. 1 for us and 1 for bf's fam.. I totally forgot to blog about it. I was just curious as how it would taste like. Now, I can't remember the experience. Maybe I am just so preoccupied then because I got my first paycheck then. HAHA

  15. I have not line up for Mr. J.Co donuts too although I have seen a lot fall in line at SM North. Have not tasted it yet too but it sure looks interesting to taste once I got my taste buds interested for it :)

  16. I find fancy donuts too sweet. I love the glazed krispy kreme and bavarian dunkin donuts. :D I have yet to try this cronut thing. Somebody had areview on 3 different cronuts and, for her, french baker is the winner.

  18. we've gone to J.Co only once pa lang din, lagi box office dito sa Trinoma and SM North, hahaha. I'm curious about Go Nuts' Cronuts. We'll try to drop by at The Block one of these days. Tasted their Cookie Butter donut dati and it was so sweet, hihi! Okay na sana if they didn't put glaze pa before the Cookie butter on top. :-)

  19. haven't really tried j.co donuts yet. buti pa yung cagayan de oro may branch na sila dun. cebuanos rely on it being pasalubongs from manila. hehe.

  20. Cronuts have taken the world by storm! Buti pa diyan sa Manila, you can get it everywhere. Here in Dubai, there are only 3 bakeshops that have cronuts, and all three are far from our place! :(

  21. Hi Farida! I was at my son's house this past weekend. I got to visit with him and his little family for a few days. My granddaughter is eight months old and so cute! But now I am back home, and that is good too.

Those donuts look delicious, but I'll take your word for it that they don't taste very good. I have see those donut/croissant combinations in the store. They look like I'd get into a lot of trouble eating them. I'd never stop!

    Have a happy weekend :)
