The rain has incessantly poured since last week. As a result, classes were suspended, roads got flooded and some lives were gone. Typhoon Gener has definitely left our country but the rain never seems to stop.
In consonance, our kitchen has been overflowing with dishes best eaten at this time of the year. We ask my Mom to prepare it for us while enjoying the calming sound of the rain as well as the cooling temperature it brings along.
Turon (banana fritters), lugaw (porridge), hot chocolate, and fish balls with spicy sauce are some of the dishes we frequently indulged in our pajamas. This is best eaten when freshly cooked, even if my tongue gets hurt from the heat. I pray though that those living in low places will be safe while some are enjoying the joys the rainy season brings.
What rainy day food have you and your family shared and enjoyed lately?
Your rainy day foods look so delicious and comforting! I would love to try them especially the Banana Fritters. I am glad that you are safe in your own home during all the rain. I am saddened by the lose of others and keep you and them in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday.

So sorry to hear about heavy rains and devastation. Thank God you are all right.
ReplyDeleteLovely food.
I haven't enjoyed any rainy day food lately but when it rains I love to have what I call "hamburger soup" and home made bread.
Those both look marvelous. It is sunny summer here and we are very short on rain, so hamburgers from the grill are still pretty standard. Or chicken or ribs.
ReplyDeleteThose banana fritters look delicious!!!
ReplyDeleteI do hope that everyone id kept safe by God's grace.
ReplyDeleteThe banana fritters sound good. We are enjoying fresh vegetables from our vegetable plot at the moment.
i think you've covered all the food which are nice to eat during rainy days. i remember my mom cooking either champorado or ginataang halu-halo on rainy days when all of us are at home.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately we have had very little rain...which is sad because it is much needed. the food looks so good...I like soup on rainy days and anything chocolate.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we've enjoyed any rainy day food lately. :) There's little rain here in Riyadh e. But back home, we love eating champorado, Pork Sinigang, and hot homemade pizza whenever it rains. I miss rainy days...
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family are all safe back home. I miss eating Turon. That's one of my favorite meryenda ever (aside from bananaQ syempre).

Lugaw sounds good right now. Also sopas :-) Hay food again hehehe...Right now though, I need to get some sleep. Had a restless night trying to sleep on the office couch.
ReplyDeleteWow Sis! Upon reading this post, I was reminded by those days that I am just at home and chilling inside the house during rainy season. But me, ang nami miss ko kainin pag tag ulan ay tuyo at champorado. Hehehe. :)
ReplyDeleteI also prepared some turon these week. This snack is becoming popular in our house :D
ReplyDeleteI've been craving for lugaw too :( Unfortunately I don't know how to prepare it! XD I miss my Mom ( T-T)~~
ReplyDeleteI'm eating Jjampong noodles instead. It's very spicy so it's perfect food when the air (?) becomes too cold.
We weren't able to enjoy eating much as we were constantly monitoring the level of Marikina River. We were inundated by Ondoy and feared it would happen again. We were also worried about friends who lived closer to the river.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been great to enjoy bowls of steaming champorado or sotanghon during those times though.
goto or lugaw beats all of them...
ReplyDeleteYour lugaw pic rocks! We're currently having lugaw for breakfast today but it's not as nicely garnished as what you have there.:)
ReplyDeleteWow! Rainy days really wake up our appetite. Good luck on the figure, hahaha! Had pretty much the same despite of the flood in our area, we live in the 2nd floor naman so nothing to do but watch the water rise. We had sopas and peach-mango turon. Because of the flood I gained 1.4 kgs, waaaaah!
ReplyDeleteLugaw or sopas is the best rainy day food for us. My son as well as I, love soupy meals. yumyumyum
