... transforms lives and changes people. It is an act I frequently saw from various folks all over the world right after typhoon Haiyan made a landfall in the Philippines.
A group of friends sold lemonade in their neighborhood to gather money for the typhoon victims is a heartwarming gesture. Similarly, a young boy encouraged by his parents to break his piggy bank and donate the coins is as touching! We see celebrities as well as private individuals packing relief goods, asking for more donations in any form and even distributing the items to the typhoon stricken families and communities.
I too have experienced kindness many times. I can't forget the few times I accidentally fell from my chair when in public and many would willingly help me sit without thinking twice. Yesterday, I did not attend our annual family reunion. But my aunt was kind enough to treat me for lunch at Uncle Cheffy and buy for me an A La Maison soap from Healthy Options.
We had an enjoyable time tasting the scrumptious dishes we have ordered below. It was also a great time to start the week right after receiving so much kindness from her.
I too receive kindness in every aspect, and I want to return the kindness they have shown me, shown us.. :-)
ReplyDeleteKindness goes a long, long way and when you have been the recipient of such acts, you cannot help but to pay it forward and show some kindness to others as well. Happy birthday sis! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThat pizza looks interesting! Kagutom! ha ha ha.. I get acts of kindness every day, from security guards who help you get in the building, even motorists who give way to let your vehicle pass. LOL So, let's spread kindness every day!
ReplyDelete"Guard well within yourself that treasure, kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness." I just got a surprise party from a friend, it was indeed something I cannot easily forget!

I mentioned to a cousin that I had found some "Fiesta Ware" mugs at the thrift store and how I love the colors. A week later, I receive a box in the mail with 4 place settings of Fiesta Ware, in four beautiful colors. What a kindness, and how I love my cousin and love using the new dishes.

My son offering to do something for me unasked just makes me feel happy and proud.
ReplyDeleteI received kindness on daily basis with my little cuties in the house. I'm so grateful for all the little help in their own little ways. Great lunch Farida! Happy Birthday:)
ReplyDeleteHow heartwarming. It's actually true that if we look hard enough, we'll see more kindness in the world. Happy birthday (belated)! :D
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Ida!!!
ReplyDeleteI miss lechon! :) Your aunt is so thoughtful.
ReplyDeleteI am so blessed to always be the recipient of other people's kindness. People taking time to accompany us to a place we don't know yet, making for us (esp for the kids) homemade juices and cookies and delivering them personally to our house, etc. I am just so blessed.
You and your Aunt is kinda look like sister, and perfect lunch too with great food.. nakakgutom! Happy Birthday again, Sis:)

It's from my student's who helped me carry my things back to the faculty room. Very simple and little act and yet very touching. :)
ReplyDeleteBelated happy birthday, Farida! Recently, a client of mine gave me my professional fee in advance even if I did not request it because she knew I was traveling the following week.
ReplyDeleteWhen I hear about kindness, these are some people that I instantly remember. In no particular order: my bestfriend, my grandmother, my brother and my husband. And there's more. I feel really blessed to be surrounded with kind people. :-)

ReplyDeleteHi Fiarda,
ReplyDeleteI was trying to comment on your post about "Being More." However, it would not let met do so--There was no comment box.
I thought your post was very insightful. Living in the past often leaves us dwelling on the sad times instead of the happy ones and anticipating the future often brings us anxiety instead of the joy we hope for. I guess that is way God wants us to live for today--it's the only day we can really do something about at the moment. God bless your day!
By the way, I really love your new header--Beautiful!
