You and I have been blessed with the gift of 24 hours in our hands day in and day out. It goes on and on no matter what you do, where you are and whatever your circumstance is. Both the young and the young at heart have it and enjoy it at varying degrees. The youth would utter, "I have so much time in the world to relax, to have fun, to explore and to learn. The elderly on the other hand would whine and rant, "If only I had more time... but I am old, weak and fragile..."
It is disheartening that those individuals who are spending more time in their office and in business trips rather than in their own homes are starkly increasing. They miss important celebrations and milestones in their household's lives in the hope of making their career paths successful. They forget their parent's anniversary and sleep while everyone is making a countdown for the New Year.
The moment I get out of our house, I see the harried souls on the streets, walking fast to reach their places of destinations, hoping that time would somehow stop until they log in for work. I empathize with them... I was once a slave to my work, that's why.
There are many more out there that are gifted with all sort of talent but the saddening thing is, they are busy with their own lives and are unavailable. Their present preoccupation consume their time and forget to give back or spend a few precious of their minute to make the depressed smile, the confused hopeful, the irate contended, the vulnerable encouraged.
Still, there a handful who seem lost in time. They mourn forever over the demise of someone dear to them, they sulk in the bottomless pit after unsuccessfully passing the board exam, or lose their lives over prohibited drugs.
Making wise use of time is potent. Spend time with those who love you and are valuable to you. Allow time to heal whatever wound is hurting you and preventing you from moving forward. Permit the passage of time to help you grow, learn, discover and further unfold the best in you. Michael LeBoeuf wrote, "Waste your money and you're only out of money; but waste your time and you've lost a part of your life."
Tell me, how do you use your time?
